The MIT South Asian Alumni Association and the MIT-India Program began a project in January 2021 to tell the story of South Asians at MIT, and of MIT in South Asia. Professor Sana Aiyar in the MIT History Faculty is directing a team of MIT student researchers who are conducting oral interviews and archival research into these histories. The goals of the project are to establish a web site that will host this research, and to mount a physical exhibit on the MIT campus in Fall 2022.
The MIT-Nepal Initiative is working with the MIT South Asia History Project to identify Nepali alums who can share information and recollections about their experiences at MIT, and about the impact that MIT has had in Nepal. Members of the MIT Community, including alums, who are interested in participating in this project should contact Professor Aiyar.
